Our Programs and Services

Pet Food Shelf
Struggling to provide food for your pet? Our Pet Food Shelf is typically stocked with both wet and dry food, and even treats at times for those in need in our community. We also provide food to the Springfield Family Center, for those that are unable to get to our location. Give us a call today if you are in need to see if we can help!

Spay the Mom
The Spay the Mom program is designed to help with pet overpopulation issues in our community. Having litters of kittens/puppies frequently can be time consuming and expensive. Not to mention that there are great risks for pregnant/unspayed pets. Basically, this program takes all the stress and financial responsibility off you and on to us! The mother or mother to-be would be temporarily surrendered to us, while the kittens/puppies would be permanently surrendered to us, ensuring they will find great, loving homes. They would then go into a caring foster home, with pre-approved fosters, to get some extra TLC and socialization, until they are ready for adoption. Once mom is done weaning her babies and her milk has dried up, she will be spayed, microchipped and receive any vaccines she needs, before being returned to her owner -ALL for only $20!
Please contact the shelter for more information.

Trap-Neuter-Release
This program was established to help with feral cat overpopulation in our community. We plan TNR trapping around the time of a S/N Clinic. Traps can be provided, with a refundable fee. All costs for medical care is covered. Any cats that are trapped for this program MUST have somewhere to go back to (ex: their colony or barn) and someone to care for their needs of food, water and shelter.
Please contact the shelter for more information.

Vaccination Clinics
We host two clinics a year, once in Spring and once in the Fall, for the public to bring their cats and dogs to be vaccinated. We post these on our social media pages and on our Upcoming Events tab when they are upcoming.

Microchipping
Microchip implantation and registration is available for $25 during open shelter hours. Give us a call to schedule your microchipping appointment today! It could help reunite you and your best friend in the event they go missing!

The Healing Paws Project
Let's face it, our furry friends are our world and their care comes at a cost, and sometimes it's not cheap! From unexpected illness to end of life care, keeping a pet happy and healthy can strain even the most loving wallet. Not being able to afford these rising veterinary costs can lead to the heartbreaking scenario of families having to make hard decisions, sometimes feeling forced to surrender their beloved companions, due to financial hardship. The Healing Paws Project was formed to help relieve some of this stress from families, by providing financial assistance. To qualify, applicants must be on some form of government assistance and have been denied for Care Credit. Please reach out to us for an application.

Community Outreach
We love attending local events or creating events with local businesses to benefit animals and the people that love them.

We will also visit schools, libraries or other organizations to speak to the public about our life-saving work!

Lost and Found Pets
We know how stressful it can be to lose a pet or to find a lost pet who has wandered from home. We are here to help!

Please contact our team via email if you have a lost pet (info@spfldhumane.org), including a photo and information on your missing pet. We will post this to our social media group for lost and found pets.
